Out with the old...

Today has been a day for clearing out the clutter and making way for all the exciting things that the future holds.  A very dear friend once told me that in order for new things to be able to come into your life you have to make room for them.  So I started doing this today.  But before all that I had my very first Shellac manicure at The Secret Day Spa

Nestled in the heart of East Belfast on the Belmont Road, The Secret Day Spa is a family run spa that comes highly recommended.  I was greeted by my manicurist, Emma, upon arrival and led through to get settled and choose my colour. The decor and lay out has been carefully chosen to relax  the client and provide a retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life on the other side of the front door.

After being spoilt for choice with shades I settled on a deep berry red colour and so the transformation began.  I recently took up kickboxing and for this my nails need to be kept fairly short so it's a treat to be able to know that the polish should withstand a few knocks and bumps as well as chips.  Half an hour later and my pocket £25 lighter I was delighted with the results and am looking forward to having lovely nails for a change!

Invigorated, I drove home with steely determination to de-clutter my home.  I decided to fill some bags up for the charity shop but also to filter some items out to sell on Ebay.  After all, I need to make back the £25 I just spent on my nails!  With this in mind I cleaned, displayed and photographed a variety of items and listed them for sale.  There is a thrill in not knowing which items will sell and which will be the subject of a bidding war that has me hook, line and sinker.  Most of the items are listed as 3 day listings - a sign of my own impatience - but some designer items have slightly longer listings to maximise bidding potential.  There is something very satisfying about turning your clutter into profit.  Even though it is unlikely I will make anything close to the amount I have spent on my clothes / shoes / accessories / dvds in these tough economic times every wee bit makes a difference.

Another motivation to de-clutter is  some friends are visiting tomorrow for a long weekend and I have to make room for all the adventures we are going to have.  Fingers crossed the sun will have his hat on this weekend!

xx
