This blog deals with the sorry tale of a navy blue Renault Megane that met her fate in an almost entirely empty Tesco car park, around midnight, one Friday evening. Megane had had a distinctly average day. She had taken the rubbish out, gone to the Post Office, had coffee with friends and spent the afternoon parked up in the drive, basking in the last remnants of sunshine before dusk fell.
Later that evening Megane realised she was out of milk and made a quick trip to her local Tesco store at around midnight. A few cars were dotted around the car park and Megane picked a prime bay close to the entrance to park while she made her purchase. Fifteen minutes later Megane was coming to a halt in her driveway when she noticed a small white note under her window wiper, blowing gently in the breeze. The note read...
The culprit was never found and Megane was left feeling somewhat startled at the evening's events.
The moral of this story is this: If you have difficulty parking next to other cars in parking bays designed to accommodate many cars DO NOT PARK there. In fact, don't park anywhere. Just drive to McDonalds and make a purchase at their drive thru facility thus minimising the risk that you may reverse / drive into another stationery car. That way you can purchase all the food / drink you may have otherwise purchased at Tesco without hitting another vehicle. Awesome.
Secondly, if you do end up bumping into another car DO NOT leave a cowardly note because you wanted people to think you were complying with your legal obligation to supply your details. Chances are, whoever finds the note, will share it with their equally bemused friends on Facebook, Twitter, on their blog...perhaps even in their - and your - local newspaper. You know, for good measure.
Karma's a real bitch, eh?

Out with the old...
Today has been a day for clearing out the clutter and making way for all the exciting things that the future holds. A very dear friend once told me that in order for new things to be able to come into your life you have to make room for them. So I started doing this today. But before all that I had my very first Shellac manicure at The Secret Day Spa
Nestled in the heart of East Belfast on the Belmont Road, The Secret Day Spa is a family run spa that comes highly recommended. I was greeted by my manicurist, Emma, upon arrival and led through to get settled and choose my colour. The decor and lay out has been carefully chosen to relax the client and provide a retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life on the other side of the front door.
After being spoilt for choice with shades I settled on a deep berry red colour and so the transformation began. I recently took up kickboxing and for this my nails need to be kept fairly short so it's a treat to be able to know that the polish should withstand a few knocks and bumps as well as chips. Half an hour later and my pocket £25 lighter I was delighted with the results and am looking forward to having lovely nails for a change!
Invigorated, I drove home with steely determination to de-clutter my home. I decided to fill some bags up for the charity shop but also to filter some items out to sell on Ebay. After all, I need to make back the £25 I just spent on my nails! With this in mind I cleaned, displayed and photographed a variety of items and listed them for sale. There is a thrill in not knowing which items will sell and which will be the subject of a bidding war that has me hook, line and sinker. Most of the items are listed as 3 day listings - a sign of my own impatience - but some designer items have slightly longer listings to maximise bidding potential. There is something very satisfying about turning your clutter into profit. Even though it is unlikely I will make anything close to the amount I have spent on my clothes / shoes / accessories / dvds in these tough economic times every wee bit makes a difference.
Another motivation to de-clutter is some friends are visiting tomorrow for a long weekend and I have to make room for all the adventures we are going to have. Fingers crossed the sun will have his hat on this weekend!
